Homemade Bread in 2-hours!

The first time I made this bread, I couldn’t believe how easy it was and how good it taste. There is no doubt that the art of bread-making in the modern kitchen is really a lost art. But, I think easy recipes like this, have an opportunity to help bread-making make a comeback. I remember a few years back when those big machines machines came out and bread-making had a little comeback. But, those still involved box recipes and little hands on. This recipe comes from America’s test kitchen and can be done in about two hours. It’s really a sandwich bread and is best when eaten the same day, so it’s perfect for picnic. I often slice it and keep it in the freezer and toast it. Lemon Bars and Olive Oil, really?

When I came across this delicious Olive Oil from  at a Farmer’s Market on a recent trip DC, I couldn’t wait to come home and try it. But then I thought, it would be more fun to find a recipe that uses olive oil for baking. Since I am on a lemon curd kick this month, I thought is was just short of a miracle when a friend sent me the link for this recent recipe for Lemon Bars that included olive oil and salt in the lemon curd. Crumbling Crusts: Lemon Crumble

So you have read the recipe for the pie crust, but you’re not quite ready to roll out your own pie dough – Don’t worry, I have an easier recipe for you to try until you’re ready! Crumble recipes are so easy because you make the dough, bake it, add your filling, bake it a little more, and you have a wonderful dessert. Best of all, you don’t have to roll out any dough!

There are so many great recipes for crumble tarts, but I chose the one from the baking Grand Central Baking Book. This cook book was given to be by one of my new friend’s in Seattle, and I have cherished it ever since. The Grand Central bakery is famous in Seattle for its buttermilk biscuits and cinnamon rolls, and, of course, tarts!
